So time for another overdue update, travelled to the US on the 20th of December, all the expected security steps, unlike many bad reviews of said airline right up to date of departure, the flight was rather pleasant, left a little late, but arrived in LAX early, however LAX control of the traffic upon landing was horrible, more or less all of my layover time was waiting for the craft to park to allow us to get off, collect baggage and once again got through more security being a main point of entry, then once got through all that rushing to get to next terminal ready for connecting flight, but then found that was delayed as the craft had yet to arrive at the airport, which others would have blamed the main airline, however the domestic flights are ran by their many partners, then while waiting for them to sort boarding of another craft and leave before they could let us board, they then told us we had to go to another terminal and gate and then wait some more to board, was a rather short flight, it seemed by time we were at altitude we were already decending to land at final destination.
Now details during flight:
Main international flight had 2 meals, plenty to drink and plenty of snacks, helpful and pleasant host and hostesses, once in the air we got first snack, drink and headphones for use with in-flight entertainment, I was also sat with 2 pleasant passengers so talked with them some, got a couple nice pictures during flight, was a good amount of turbulance throughout most of the flight, flight crew continually worked to try avoid it best they could, however this wasn’t too bad and not something to worry about.
Domestic flight to final destination:
After initial wait etc, once onboard we were in the air pretty quickly and was given a drink and a snack, again flight was pleasant, however had a loud snorer next to me, had a second drink before landing which was very close to landing so had to drink it quick so they could clear before exiting the craft.
Once at final destination, I was met by my lovely partner who couldn’t help but run up to me and give me a big hug while nearly knocking me over, we then proceeded to the baggage claim which took quite a while to start sending our flights bags and seemed like a long time and mine seemed to be the last one brought up to the belt, once we collected it, we headed straight home and made a stop in ihop first to eat and drink something so didn’t have to make something once we got back, once home and settled, talked for a bit before getting some shut eye.
My Ultra Mobile sim card worked well for me, using in the UK mobile I had brought with me, limited to only 3G because of the different frequencies for 4G in the US, however when I come to use it for a couple calls I come to find the mic was intermittant and the speakerphone mic worked better, or if jut using hands free, so is not practical, which is a shame as it’s not worth paying to get repaired and I was going to use for my UK pay as you go phone so I could upgrade it, sadly this can’t happen and i’ve noticed it’s a common fault for that model phone anyway, so I will not purchase another.
We had the occassional trip out to a shop and odd visit to places, we went out to eat at golden corral one day, needless to say.. I WILL definately be eating there again, it’s an all you can eat buffet of various foods for those who do not know, pizza, various meats, salads etc, my favourie being the bourbon chicken.
Come christmas I opened the phone I had waiting for me for use with the Ultra Mobile sim card, to find they had sent me an AT&T version rather than the T-Mobile version I had purchased, so I had to send this back for a refund and purchase another phone that was more suited for me as it will work with their Wi-Fi Calling so I could still make use of the unlimited calls while on Wi-Fi if I continue to pay the monthly amount for the plan, sadly only the bottom speaker works for music and loud speaker, but the normal speaker for calls works, so it functions for what I require, can always get something newer and better at a later date.
All things went well and we decided to get married on the 4th of January, unfortunately things did not go as planned and we headed up to the store a couple hours before we were meant to be at Court House to get some bobby pins to do her hair and on the way back got into a car accident and ended up making a trip to the hospital instead and after all that the bobby pins are still sat in the car with other belongings awaiting collection which require a ride to get to, we rescheduled for the following day at the Court House, got a ride from another neighbour/friend of hers so we could make it and had them be a witness to our marriage.
All in all had a rather good trip so far regardless of mishaps, messed up by work/tax at home so I got bills to sort once i’m home but the upside is i’m back in work the day after I arrive home so it won’t take long to get myself back on track again.
Happy with my new wife, spent a good amount of time fighting with the puppy trying to get him to behave and stop biting, various marks and scabs from where his teeth got me, but they heal so no loss there.
Also got wife a tattoo on her wrist which says “Princess” but won’t come out too well once healed as wasn’t thought out too well with the pup who keeps catching it with nails and teeth ripping off scabs so unable to heal properly, if possible at a later date will see if can get another tattooist to go over it and possible tidy it up, but that’s no big worry if don’t do it.
